Privacy Policy
Gwong Therapy (“we,” “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through gwongtherapy.ca (the “Site”), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
Our Site is hosted on Shopify, which stores your data and processes it on our behalf as a service provider.
1. Personal information we collect
Information you provide to us
- Contact & identity: name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing address.
- Order information: the products you buy, order value, and order history.
- Payment information: processed securely by our payment processor(s); we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Account information: login details and preferences, if you create an account.
- Communications: messages, reviews, survey responses, and support requests you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Device & usage data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring links, and interactions with the Site.
- Cookies & similar technologies: used by Shopify, our analytics tools, and advertising pixels (see Section 4).
Information from third parties
- We may receive information from service providers such as payment processors, shipping carriers, and analytics or advertising partners, consistent with their own policies.
2. How we use your information
- To process, fulfil and deliver your orders, and to provide customer support.
- To manage your account and communicate with you about orders, returns and warranty.
- To send marketing communications where you have consented, and to personalise offers (you can opt out at any time — see Section 6).
- To operate, analyse, secure and improve the Site and our products.
- To detect and prevent fraud, and to comply with legal and tax obligations.
3. Consent (PIPEDA & CASL)
We collect, use and disclose personal information with your consent, which may be express or implied depending on the sensitivity of the information and the circumstances. By placing an order, you consent to us using your information to fulfil it. For marketing emails and messages, we rely on your consent in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL); every marketing message includes an easy way to unsubscribe. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, by contacting us.
4. Cookies & tracking technologies
We and our providers use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site working (for example, your cart and login), to understand how the Site is used, and to measure and personalise advertising. These may include:
- Essential/Shopify cookies — needed for the store, cart and checkout to function.
- Analytics — such as Google Analytics, to understand Site usage.
- Advertising pixels — such as Google, Meta, Snapchat and TikTok, to measure and improve campaigns and to show relevant ads.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, where we provide one, through our cookie-consent banner. Disabling some cookies may affect how the Site works.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run our store:
- Service providers (processors): e.g., Shopify (platform & hosting), payment processors, shipping carriers, and email/SMS and analytics/advertising providers — who may use your data only to perform services for us.
- Legal & safety: where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect our rights, customers or the public.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
6. Your choices & rights
- Access & correction: you may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you.
- Withdraw consent / opt out of marketing: unsubscribe from any marketing email, reply STOP to messages, or contact us — we’ll stop sending marketing communications.
- Additional rights: depending on your province (for example, Quebec’s Law 25), you may have further rights such as data portability or de-indexing. We will honour applicable rights on request. [Confirm which provincial laws apply to your customers.]
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in Section 11. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
7. Data storage & transfers outside Canada
Because our Site runs on Shopify and uses global service providers, your personal information may be stored or processed outside Canada (including in the United States), where it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected by comparable safeguards wherever it is processed.
8. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy — for example, to fulfil orders, honour warranties, meet tax and legal requirements, and resolve disputes — after which we securely delete or anonymise it.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your personal information. Payment data is handled by PCI-compliant processors. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under the age of majority. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
